In the very poor village of Banteay Chmar (Cambodia), Soieries du Mékong restores dignity and smiles to 70 women by offering them sustainable work and responsibilities. Proud and fulfilled, our weavers weave scarves of exceptional quality and thus perpetuate the ancestral know-how of hand weaving.

The origin of silk: This empress of noble materials, including the manufacturing secret was jealously guarded by China for more than 2,500 years, is the only natural textile fiber with a continuous thread. It is taken from the cocoon of the Bombyx caterpillar, also called “silkworm”, and its appearance varies depending on the way in which it is woven or worked.

Cashmere: Cashmere is a fiber natural animal, from goat's down raised in Mongolia and the Himalayas. This material is light, soft and warm. The silk-cashmere blend gives the scarf greater softness and an elegant fit.
By working with Mekong silks, we help to provide work in good conditions for Cambodian weavers.
